Celebrating Jason's 9th Birthday in Myrtle Beach...

Usually for the kids, I try to throw a big birthday party for them every other year. This year was Jason's turn for a big birthday bash!

Back in the springtime, Erin's daughter Maddie had her birthday at MagiQuest in Myrtle Beach. Ever since then, Jason has said how much he really wanted to go back, especially once his Daddy got home. I came up with the BRILLIANT idea to have his birthday party there too!

Of course we planned it out for Erin and her family to meet us down there and I brought my nephew Justin with us as well (my sister's oldest, Cameron had a soccer game he couldn't miss).

But we wanted to make it a big day down in Myrtle Beach and take advantage of being there as much as possible. So the first thing we did was go to Ripley's Aquarium. Where we waited patiently for Erin and family to join us.

Can you believe they already started decorating for Christmas? It's the very beginning of November for Pete's Sake!!!

My adorable nephew Justin! I love him!!!

Cass-a-roll and I...

Jack has actually been rehearsing these past few months for a Christmas school play in a few weeks. He gets to play Rudolf! Of course he had to get his picture with him!

Erin finally arrive and we entered the Aquarium. Here she is posing with something weird. Go figure.

Cass and I checking out some strange creature of the deep...

Isn't he cute?!

They had this large Jelly Fish just hanging around.

Ooh...pretty fish....

Perry was digging whatever he was seeing in that tank!

Ok, so about half way through the aquarium they have one of those underwater walkways where they have the see through tunnel and the sea creatures and sharks swim all around you. It's especially awesome when they swim over the top of you.

Can you guess what this is?

LOL! He's happy to see us!!

JAWS!!!!

After the tunnel they had the pool where you can reach in and touch the Horseshoe Crabs. The kids loved it! And Perry was more than happy to get all up in that!

In the discovery area (same area where they had the sting rays), they also had this station where you could pop up inside it and it would look like you were inside a giant clam. It had Erin and I rolling around laughing. Literally we had to roll. You had to scootch underneath on your hands and knees and if I'm not mistaken, it's mostly made for kids so I was really cramped in there. Stinking kids get to have all the fun!

Erin thinking that this might not of been such a good idea!

A few random shots of the kids playing around the discovery area...

Like I said before, they had decorated for Christmas already and inside they had a bunch of State trees up everywhere. Erin found her California tree. Sadly, I couldn't find my Michigan one. Bummer.

Cassie, Jon, Carly and Jason posing in front of the Jelly Fish tanks...

Perry and Jon discussing something manly, I'm assuming...

After the aquarium, we headed outside to walk around the boardwalk. If you've never been to Myrtle Beach that have this outdoor shopping center with tons to boutiques and restaurants. Today they even had a mini carnival going on. Perry earned extra brownie points by purchasing all the kids tickets to go on one ride of their choice.

Cassie, Justin, Drew and Maddie wanted to ride the big swings. Carl was going to ride it but then changed her mind at the  last moment. Smart girl!

So instead she decided to ride this with her Daddy and Jack decided that this was what he wanted to ride too. Since Jon didn't jive on things that spin around quickly, I was the unlucky sucker that got to go on with him.
Trying not to hurl up my Starbucks...

Perry doing the same...

Jason was the smart one out of the bunch of us and decided to ride something nice and easy - The Carousel!

A few random pictures of us walking around the boardwalk. We had to kill some time before we could head over to MagiQuest for Jason's party.

The Imax was showing a 3-D Dinosaure show!

It was finally time to head to MagiQuest and get Jason' party started. Here an employee charges a wand, putting time on it so the kids can head out to the arena and start playing.

Cassie and Justin comparing their wands...

A few of the accessory stations. Too many choices and not enough moolah!

Finally the gates opened up and we were allowed to start playing. If you've never been to Magi Quest before, basically what happens is in the middle of the arena are 'stones' that have tv's in them. You point your wand to it and the Wizard pops up and asks you what quest you'd like to accomplish. He then goes onto some annoying chant/poem about what you need to do and then you're one your way.  You goal is to accomplish as many quests as possible to earn higher rank.

Jack and Daddy working together to figure things out...

The Birthday Boy teamed up with Carly to get the job(s) done...

Justin checking out one of the many coin boxes...

Erin and Justin were buddies this time, working together to get many quests finished...

Cassie at the Stone Hedge, starting a new quest...

And this is where we could find Perry. He decided that he was just be our very own handbag, coat and anything else holder....

Beautiful Maddie, at one of the many stations...

'Sha-zam!'! Carly using her wand to conjure a dancing flower....

Jason throwing out a bit of magic himself!

Magi Drew...we all bow down to his mystical powers!

Awwww!

We only had one hour of play time, and by the time that was up we were ready to celebrate with some birthday cake! They had a seperate room all ready for us and Jason got to sit on the Magi Throne!

All Jason wanted on his birthday was a smiley face cake. So you know I had to make it for him...

Jason trying to dig into a fake cupcake....

Singing 'Happy Birthday'!

9 Birthday candles to blow out...I can't believe it!

Jon had eye surgery a few days prior to this. So he got to play the cool kid role in today's activities by wearing his sunglasses ALL DAY LONG.

CAKE!!! I love CAKE!!!!

After running around like a bunch of monkey's and then enjoying all that cake and nonsense, they herd you out to the gift shop. While the kids ran around checking everything out, this is where Perry decided to park it....

There also so happened to be a type of "Magi Show Down" where the fastest in casting a spell won. All the kids took a turn...

Carl taking her turn while Cassie watches on....

I should take this time to mention that it wasn't only the kids that got in on all the fun of MagiQuest. Erin, Jon and I each decided to buy our own wands and play along. What can we say? We're a bunch of big kids too.

Erin and I dueling it out!

Our party time was spent so it was back out to the boardwalk to find a place to eat for dinner. Cassie decided to hijack the camera and take a few pictures of us wandering....

Justin still in Magi mode...

There was also a 'Garden Quest' that had pinpoints throughout the boardwalk that you could look for and find. So we all decided to see how many of them we could find....

And can you believe that a GNOME was one??? LOVE IT!

Awww....they luuuvvvvv each other.....

We decided to hunker down and eat some CRAB! Welcome to Joe's?! Got Crabs????

Everyone else opted for normal dishes of food, but Cass and I decided to GO BIG, OR GO HOME!

So we ordered a big ol' bucket of CRAB LEGS!!!!

Shortly after we ordered, our waitress brought out our bibs and special utensils...

This is crack-a-lacky!

We ended up wrapping up the fun-filled adventure by taking a few choice shots of us in the bathroom at Joes Crab Shack....

It was a long, crazy, busy and exciting day! We celebrated Jason's 9th Birthday and got to see our BfFF Family...

Jason's actual birthday is on November 27th. Luckily, we'll be up at Erin's house celebrating Thanksgiving. We can't wait!
